Oceanview Manor Home for Adults Celebrates National Sandwich Day November 3, 2021

Residents and Staff alike celebrated National Sandwich Day at Oceanview Manor Home for Adults paying homage to this scrumptious and delicious meal by enjoying beautifully prepared sandwiches for our lunch time meal.

Observed annually on November 3rd, National Sandwich Day is one of our favorite food celebration holidays here at Oceanview Manor. This day gives us reason to enjoy a sandwich.

The sandwich is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he invented the first ever sandwich in the 18th century in England.  He was apparently in love with card games so he ordered his cook to deliver him sliced meat placed between two loaves of bread. He wanted it so that he can eat without cutlery while playing his favorite game of cards.

As one of America’s most popular lunch items although a sandwich can be enjoyed at any time.

There is really no information about how National Sandwich Day got started but we are oh so happy to celebrate the Sandwich!

To leave you with a great quote about the sandwich said by comedian, Paul Lynde,“Sandwiches are wonderful. You don’t need a spoon or a plate!”
