Brooklyn Adult Care Center successfully completes national infection control program

Brooklyn Adult Care Center in Brooklyn NY was awarded a certificate for its successful completion of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) Infection Control Certificate Program. The organization offers this innovative training and skills assessment program, powered by Healthcare Academy, to help skilled nursing and assisted living centers across the U.S. consistently train and evaluate employees’ infection prevention skills to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus and other illnesses.

“Preventing the spread of COVID-19 and other diseases is the highest priority for Brooklyn Adult Care Center,” said Jack Elie Administrator of the facility. While training employees about infection control is common in healthcare settings, Elie explained that Brooklyn Adult Care Center chose this training program because employees must not only learn about infection control, they also must consistently demonstrate to evaluators the step-by-step skills in five key areas necessary to prevent the spread of infections until those skills are mastered.
“Consistent training and evaluation of health care workers infection prevention skills are highly effective ways to reduce the spread of illnesses in long-term care facilities,” said Dr. David Gifford, chief medical officer for AHCA/NCAL. “This program takes learning beyond the textbook to real-life practice ensuring that each employee can correctly follow the numerous proper protocols in routine practices, such as applying and removing PPE or handwashing, and that consistency makes a big difference.”

Brooklyn Adult Care Center is part of the Gefen Senior Care Group and is an Assisted Living Program providing services to 210 residents and is located on 2830 Pitkin Ave Brooklyn NY 11208.
