Faith, Hope and Charity

“Our Queens neighborhoods are homes to the city’s restaurant workers, service workers of all types, and those who support families by serving others. They need our help now,” says First Baptist Church pastor Reverend Young.

“This distribution of canned food and personal protective equipment (PPE) is more than a symbol. People are hungry. People are frightened. People are isolated. This is the moment when we can show publicly, with the help of our neighbors, that we will not allow COVID-19 to destroy our decency,” adds Bishop Mitchell Taylor.

The communities served by Reverend Patrick Young and Bishop Mitchell Taylor are hurting the most. They work in the areas hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic. And that’s why the recent delivery of food and anti-virus personal protective gear was so important.

Taylor leads the Long Island City-headquartered and nationally recognized Urban Upbound, a multi-service community-based organization active in job development, education and direct services. Bishop Taylor and Reverend Young welcomed this gift and thanked Michael Yunger of Queens Adult Care Center (QACC) of Elmhurst who provided the canned goods and PPE that day for distribution.

“This is the highest form of charity,” added Reverend Young. “Those receiving these potentially life-saving items won’t know Michael Yunger. The goodness of this act is the only personal gain.”
