The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To date, breast cancer remains the most common form of cancer among women living in the United States.
“We see the importance of educating our residents and our staff on a daily basis and we see it as part of our mission of being an assisted living program. Breast Cancer has touched our Home in many ways and we want to celebrate the survivors and encourage those residents who are receiving treatment.” states Lisa Vider, Administrator of Oceanview Manor Home for Adults.
The past year has posed a challenge to just about everything and breast cancer prevention has been no exception. We never wanted residents or staff, in this pandemic, to take care of their overall health even though the focus was COVID-19. As soon as it was possible, and MD offices were again open, we resumed regular mammography exams.
Since no one knows the exact causes of breast cancer, doctors seldom know why one woman develops breast cancer and another doesn’t, and most women who have breast cancer will never be able to pinpoint an exact cause. What we do know is that screening and early detection is the most important steps that anyone can take.
Oceanview Manor Home for Adults and the team of dedicated health care professionals and support staff will encourage and practice preventative health and health screenings.
“October is breast cancer awareness month, but for a survivor, it’s every single day.”—
